তার ঐ ৭ মার্চের ভাষনে পূর্ব বাংলার মানুষ জাগ্রত হয়ে দীর্ঘ্য ৯ মাস রক্তক্ষয়ী যুদ্ধের মাধ্যমে বিজয় ছিনিয়ে এনে স্বাধীন সার্বভৌম বাংলাদেশ রাষ্ট্র গড়ে তুলেন। ২০১৭ সালের ৩০ শে অক্টোবর ইউনেস্কো বঙ্গবন্ধুর ৭ মার্চের ভাষণকে ঐতিহাসিক দলিল হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দেয়।
